Working abroad for almost 7 years gave me the opportunity to learn and experience a lot of things. Things I have come to love and appreciate, especially in my second home – – – Myanmar.
However, Baguio will always be my first home. So when I have the chance to be in Philippines I always make sure to explore Baguio as much as I could — to eventually make up for the lost time.
And this time, I wanted to visit the cafes in Baguio.
I went cafe hopping with my sister Johna. It was also a bonding moment with her. We started at 10 AM and finished around 6PM.
So here are the cafes we went to:
1. PIZZA VOLANTE
Address: 82 Session Road
Nothing really changed. It’s almost the same place where my theatre friends, Dennis, and I used to visit. Red walls, the frame with a guy smoking tons of cigars, and the view of Session Road.
Before, I always enjoy Pesto pasta and brewed coffee because it was only what my money could afford. But now, I have some money and I’m on a diet so I opted for chicken salad and lemon grass drink.
MUST TRY? Waffles with bacon and lemon grass drink.
BUDGET FOR THIS MEAL: 286.61 PHP
2. ARCA’S YARD
Address: 777 Tiptop Ambuclao
This place is literally a house converted to a cafe/ restaurant. The overlooking mountains, antique accents and instagrammable areas are the things I love about her.
I had banana shake while my sister had choco milk shake.
MUST TRY? French toast.
BUDGET FOR THIS MEAL: 300 PHP
3. THE COFFEE LIBRARY
Address: Rex Hall Residences, Upper Bonifacio
My first impression of this place are their chic interiors. The wooden table, chairs, and wall decorations are just classy to look at.
By this time, we were literally so full. But we ordered latte’ and sandwich. However, ended up eating just the fries and taking out the sandwich for my besty, Eunice — because it was quite near to the hospital where she’s working.
MUST TRY? Green Tea Latte
BUDGET FOR THIS MEAL: 230 PHP
4. QUOTED CAFE
Address: 14 Bukaneg
This cafe is owned/co-owned by a good friend of mine, Jessica. I went to this place not because of her but — I’ve seen on Instagram the great photos of this cafe. The first time I entered, I could already associate the cafe to her.
When we were in high school, she would always give us gift about quotes on friendship, and life. So seeing this cafe looking so great — I could say that I’m really proud of her!
Anyways, it’s literally a quoted cafe! From the toilet, to the plants and even the souvenirs – – – QUOTES that would truly inspire you!
I ordered strawberry cucumber which I highly recommend! I also ordered a Breakfast Burrito but ended up taking it out, I didn’t know it had rice! LOL! But, my dad loved it!
P.S My sister totally got tired of snapping photos. LOL!
MUST TRY? Strawberry Cucumber Shake
BUDGET FOR THIS MEAL: 391 PHP
5. CAFÉ BY THE RUINS
Address: 25 Shuntug Rd
Last but not the least is Cafe by the Ruins. I have to say, I’ve been invited by friends for years to hang out in this place. But it was my first time to visit this cafe. What prompted me to visit was — it recently got burned and they just renovated the place!
There weren’t so much Instagrammable areas but the food was so good.
MUST TRY? Goat Cheese Lumpia and Salabat Tea
BUDGET FOR THIS MEAL: 412 PHP
6. IL PADRINOS
Address: 87 Session Road
P.S I also tried a place called Il Padrinos with my best friend Eunice. I wasn’t able to take a lot of photos because I just chatted with my best friend.
MUST TRY? Iced Café Late
BUDGET FOR THIS MEAL: 380 PHP
After a month, I’m back in the Philippines again. I can’t wait to go explore Baguio again, this time with some Burmese friends.
Where and what to do next??
